The recent released film of the James Bond series was released and came all in the limelight for reasons other than the film. The film bagged the limelight as the censor board of India took a decision to shorten the length of the kisses in the film. Many film personalities gave a negative reaction to this decision and shared their views on the social networking sites. Film maker Imtiaz Ali is also of the similar view and recently shared his views on the same.
Imtiaz Ali on this said. “Why are movies the only ones that are being censored so severely. The same audience, which watches movies, is also consuming the same kind of things that you are trying to ban in movies, in other ways.” Imtiaz Ali also faced a similar problem as his recent film Tamasha had a lip- lock between actor Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone which the film maker had to shorten because of the censor board. Imtiaz on this said, “I would like to say that censorship laws should be lenient towards movies because at least movies are announcing that there is this thing (kiss) so don’t take your kids for it. But when it comes on the internet or TV, then what? So, we should be a little easy on films.”
Talking about his own film Imtiaz said, “Every film- maker resents every change that anyone asks him to make to his film. And so do I, But I cannot cast a broad- based judgement on the way a country should run. I do know that there is a Censor Board and that it will take a call, I can’t say that there should be no censoring. The board members are doing their job, just like we are doing ours.”
